|Voiced by||Peter Cullen|
Haunter introduced himself as a 'civilized hunter of haunted prey'. He was a ghost that wore safari clothes and a hat that he could also use as a means of transportation. He served Prime Evil.
Being British, Haunter's personality make him different from other ghosts. He was well-mannered, neat and clean. Prone to addressing Prime Evil as "Old boy" or "Old Bean", which provoked his ire, and has often been punished for it.
Haunter's overall appearance was derived from the stereotypical British safari hunter (see Van Pelt in Jumanji) and his facial appearance, mannerisms and way of speaking were all derived from British comedian Terry-Thomas.
No backstory is given, but his clothing and personality suggest that he was originally a native of the Victorian Era.

- Haunter usually relied on his ghostly powers, rather than hunting tools. He used his safari helmet as a weapon as well as a means of transportation and sometimes carries a big butterfly net.
- In the episode The Curse Of The Diamond Of Gloom he threatens the Ghostbusters with a pointy spear, but Eddie Spenser Jr. pulls a pencil sharpener from out of his ghost pack and makes short work of Haunter's weapon.
- Haunter was the only ghost not to abandon Prime Evil when Hauntquarters was taken over by Big Evil. (A Friend In Need)
- Not to be confused with the Pokémon of the same name, which happens to be a ghost-type.
