The Gypsy family were the ancestors of Madame Why. Her wagon was already in the family in the year 49 B.C. When their family fortune teller, Tanya saw in the cards that they would be treated like kings in Rome, they all decided to move there.
When Madame Why and the Ghostbusters travelled back in time to make sure the Gold Wreath was not stolen by Prime Evil's ghosts, two of the male gypsies simply laughed at Madame's story.
However, when Tanya and the Ghostbusters entered a chariot race to win back the wreath the gypsies joined Madame Why in cheering them on from the sidelines at Circus Maximus.
